In a quiet part of Bellingham, right on the water lies Little Squalicum Park. The sandy strip of beach is ideal for walking along the water, watching the sunset, or picnicking in the sand. Trails encompass the area complete with places to let your dogs off the leash. Down the way is a rope swing great for children and plenty of room to build sandcastles. The views alone from Little Squalicum Park make it worth visiting. On any given day you can see the San Juan Islands in the Bay and find interesting rocks and shells on the beach floor. Little Squalicum Park is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.
